Sassane di Pietracolora
WARNING! The cliff insists on private land. Until an agreement with the Property and the relative easements of passage is found, the site is inhibited by frequentation. -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------- About a kilometer, as the crow flies from Pietracolora, there is an evocative complex arenaceous balcony on the Marano torrent: LE SASSANE. The sedimentary complex emerges on the hydrographic left of the valley. The sedimentary rock masses have been worked by the action of the wind over thousands of years. Today, they appear as a sort of polished towers emerging from the woods. The geological emergency certainly has a remarkable development with a wide and varied potential. The town appears to have been mentioned in the historical annals as early as the 12th century as the site of an oratory called Sancte Rayne de Sassana (the Madonna Regina). Today, in its place, stands a small church dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene. The inhabitants of the place keep "particularly" to this place and therefore, we still recommend maximum discretion.
