Between 2008 and 2009, the Alpine Guide Association Val Masino - Val di Mello The Gigiat, on behalf of the municipality of Sondrio - owner of the structure - has restored the Municipal Climbing Gym of Sassella. The restoration work involved verifying the anchors, trimming the walls, laying containment nets and wooden sleepers along the ledges between the various climbing sectors. Currently on the wall of the Sassella there are over 50 pitches of rope with varying degrees of difficulty, from 3c to 7a. ALSO: by concatenating 4/5 pitches you can create different ways to get to the top of the cliff and then rappelling. By virtue of its proximity to the city, its solitary and wind-sheltered position and its excellent bolting, the Sassella gymnasium is one of the most popular cliffs in the province of Sondrio since 1995!
Access: A stone's throw from the city of Sondrio: proceeding by car on the State Road 38, from Milan to Sondrio about 300 meters before the entrance of the tangential road of Sondrio at the roundabout take the second exit, you can see the cliff on the left. Proceeding, on the contrary, from Sondrio towards Milan, at the end of the ring road at the roundabout take the first exit on the right.
Logistic: Pay attention to the machines: The departure of the low sector coincides with the road to access the nearby La Sassella locality. There is a parking space near the cliff. In the nearby town of La Sassella, continuing along the uphill road you can find a fantastic fountain and a restaurant.
