The area is located within the National Park of Abruzzo, near the villages of Opi and Villetta Barrea; a little-known territory of the Italian vertical environment. Pianezza develops from a beautiful oak and beech forest and culminates in a sector airplane set in a conoid of debris and dominated by rocky spiers. The location, the orography and the proximity to the major centers of the Park make it an interesting solution for those who climb on the boulders of central Italy. The microclimatic conditions make Pianezza a "four seasons" bouldering area as it is possible to climb all year round, with the right motivation, except for periods when there is excessive abundance of snow. The area meets the needs of boulderers looking for relaxation and those looking for more engagement on challenging lines.
Access: At km 53 of the SS83, where the CAI trail F10 for Monte Marsicano starts, there is a small opening on the road with a ford of wood and wire access, park the car along the road causing the least possible disturbance to the circulation. After crossing the ford, briefly climb in the direction of a trellis, also visible from the road, from there looking towards the woods you can see the little men in stone that signal the path over the entire boulder area.
