• The cliff takes its name from the Costiera road that arrives in Trieste passing through Sistiana and covering the whole ridge that descends towards the sea from the Carsico plateau. It is the most beautiful and scenic road that leads to the city and you yourself make the Costiera one of the best crags in the area. The climbing walls are placed outside the natural tunnel where the road passes, but the traffic noises do not reach the streets and from the terraces you can enjoy a magnificent view over the Gulf of Trieste. A few years ago the crag was completely re-bolted to resinated taps and now offers lots of beautiful rock shoots in a beautiful setting.

  • Access: For those arriving from the motorway, after the Lisert tollgate continue for a few kilometers until the Sistiana junction and then take the SS 14 - Costiera that leads to Trieste. After a few kilometers you reach the natural gallery; you park before or after the tunnel (better this last solution, since there is also a square). From the gallery you go back on foot for 50 m towards Sistiana and cross the railing at a rocky spur; go down some metal steps and continue downhill along a steel cable. At the end you go along the wall to the right (looking at the wall), until you reach the road. For those arriving from Trieste: follow the SS14 - Costiera towards Sistiana up to the natural tunnel, then as above.
