The Sasso Giallo is one of the most interesting crags near Erba; even if the structure is not very large, in fact, it offers a good choice of medium-high difficulty itineraries up to 30 meters long, with a good variety of movements. Generally notched vertical walls and drops with often complicated and tiring steps for the forearms, but there is no shortage of athletic overhangs on reeds, or strength-resistance on small holds. Rock generally excellent, apart from some initial features where it should be placed a little 'attention. Here and there some greasy footing. Overall a nice place in a quiet and pleasant environment. Bench and large bulletin board at the base.
Access: Follow the center of Erba along Corso XXV Aprile towards the hospital. At the roundabout turn right into Via Fatebenefratelli (always direction Hospital) and a little later go up on the left (indication Crevenna) along Via Clerici. Above, take a right onto Via Foscolo, at the junction go left into Via S. Giorgio passing the Church of Crevenna, pass under the overpass of the Provincial Arosio-Canzo and continue towards the right past the cemetery to the entrance of the private road that goes up at the Hermitage of San Salvatore. There is a certain tolerance, however on Sunday it is advisable to park at the Trattoria Cà Nova and climb along the old mule track up to the Hermitage in 15 '. From here take the trail to Capanna Mara, which leaves on the left side of the hedge of the parking lot of the Hermitage, immediately after the detour marked on the right for Sass del Tavarac and Sasso Giallo. Follow the steep track ignoring the deviation on the right for the Sasso of the Hermitage (small structure in the forest with 3 or 4 short spikes on a plaque), coming shortly under the SASSO GIALLO. 10 minutes.
