Pleasant inclined plinth of excellent compact and adherent rock with fun itineraries on contained difficulties, mainly of feet on cleats, svasi and tracts of adherence. Some departures are on the water; recommended life preserver. Worth visiting the remarkable village of Varenna, located a short distance from the structure (for information: www.varennaitaly.com). We thank the portal: http://larioclimb.paolo-sonja.net/falesie_lecco/varenna/ - Lario Climb source of a part of the material. The portal of Paolo Vitali and Sonia Brambati hosts many other Lecchese cliffs and updates.
Access: From Lecco take the SS36 to Colico-Sondrio and exit on the right for Abbadia Lariana, taking the coastal road that follows up to the height of Varenna. Without entering the tunnel of the ring road, turn left entering the town center, cross it and, shortly after the detour to Esino, park on the left in spaces set up for a few cars. Continue on foot through a short tunnel, taking the provincial road that leads to the entrance of a tunnel. Climb the parapet and descend a ladder with metal rungs to a small terrace, from which another short series of pegs leads to the beach. If you arrive by scooter or motorbike, you can park at the side of the road directly at the entrance from the parapet . 5 minutes from the car, 1 minute from the bike.
- Crag: Varenna
- N. Routes: 12
- Level: 4a/6b
- Height: 240 mt.
Exposure: West. Recommended spring and autumn period; in the summer only in the morning and then dedicate to bathing.
- Gear: Excellent with resin. Some nails distant from each other. After the first routes of Marco Galli and the Rovelli brothers in 1986 / '87, the crag was developed and retooled by the Enzo Nogara Alpine Guide. For most of the routes it is necessary to make sure that those who climb secure themselves to a chain fixed to the rock. Take, therefore, the necessary.
