Gravina di Laterza


  • The gravy of Laterza is the longest and deepest of the Ionian arch, 13 kilometers long and a maximum depth of 200 meters. A small canyon that furrows the western murgia, a stone hill characterized by karst phenomena. The crag is located about one kilometer from the town of Laterza (in the province of Taranto), inside the Lipu Oasis. The recommended period is between September and December, both for the climate and for the faunal restrictions. The sky on the climbers is often crossed by a pair of Egyptian vultures or Egyptian vultures.

  • Access: Highway A14 to San Basilio-Mottola (between Bari and Taranto) or exit at Candela (FG) and go towards Matera, in both cases then continue to Laterza (TA) and then reach the Lipu oasis. The crag is 200 meters from the parking lot.
