A beautiful cliff immersed in a landscape full of greenery and woods. Since September 2006 the passage leading to the walls has been fenced and closed with a wooden gate, the owner has no objection to granting the passage (climbing over the fence), the only request is not to destroy the fence or open the gate as they are trying to recover the old olive grove and are afraid that the cows will enter and ruin everything. We therefore invite you to comply with these rules. ATTENTION! The new owners of the farm have Maremma Shepherds who could attack other dogs if they enter their territory. They therefore invite the climbers not to bring the dogs under the walls to avoid unpleasant inconveniences.
- Section: lazio
Access: From Rome take the Autostada Roma-Firenze A1 and exit at Fiano-Romano where then turn left to Passo Corese. From Passo Corese continue towards Poggi Mirteto-Roccantica. Pass Poggio Mirteto Scalo and after about 5km turn right for Roccantica and after a few kilometers turn left again for Roccantica. Arrived at the first houses, turn left for a sharp bend (sign for the restaurant 'Il compare') on a small road that enters the town. After 150 m, turn left into via Marta Robbio Tacci which goes towards the mountain becoming a dirt road. Park near the first fountain that you meet on the right side of the road and take a path that starts just to the right of the fountain that soon leads to the walls. For the sections of the Hermitage: You arrive in Roccantica and leave the car at the church of San Valentino. Go up to the left of the bell tower. Continue along the dirt road to the east, when you reach a small clearing on a tree on the right there is a red arrow with an unreadable inscription 'San Leonardo'. Take the path that for a while follows a clearing and then descends steeply into the wood towards the south. At another small clearing do not take the path that bends to the left but go down to the right through the trees a trace of the path. Follow the red-yellow signs until you see the limestone walls on the left. Go to the base of the rocks and you will soon arrive at the base of the stairs of the abandoned hermitage.
